My goodness, where does the time go? Trying really hard to be kind to myself for not having been here since April. And when I was I barely typed one line. I really thought that posting once a month would be feasible.I'm pretty accustomed to all of May disappearing but I feel like so much time has passed in a blur this year. I thought maybe if I just slowed down enough to write about what was blooming and showing up in my arrangements each month it would be a way to mark the time. Then we got into wedding season and now there's so many things blooming and so many different things going into my arrangements I don't even know where to begin. Right now some of my favorites are acidanthera, celosia and amaranthus. Marigolds are on like gangbusters and chocolate cosmos have long had a special place in my heart.I hope you've been cutting in your garden; the more flowers you cut; the more flowers you grow! The other day I saw a baby foxglove peeking it's head out in a friends garden that I forage in regularly. The original blooms of foxglove are long gone and that one wouldn't be there if those foxgloves had not been being harvested. I've seen many rose bushes that switched to plumping rosehips instead of pumping out roses because no one has been cutting them. While I do love some rosehips I am not even close to being done with summer roses. The weather around here has been a bit too hot for my taste and there's plenty of flowers that don't fair well in the heat either. Let's hope this last round of high 90s is our last.
