Well, I missed another day but I'm not giving up. Wrapped up my taxes at the very last second and I'm almost certain they're done wrong but, they are done so there's that. Spring is springing and blooms are bursting out everywhere.  I hope you're getting outside and  bringing some of them indoors to play with. Slowing down to play with flowers can be very therapeutic. We rarely get to spend as much time in our yards as we would like and you can easily expand the enjoyment flowers from the garden can give you bringing them indoors. Sunday, day of rest. I grew up in the church and while I no longer count myself among the believers there are still patterns that it instilled in me that I think I long for. Sundays were always not only a day of rest but a day for community and I think that's something I need to get back to somehow. Anyhow, the day of rest part is covered- slept late and now headed out for a paddle in what looks like pretty much perfect weather. I find myself wondering why I struggle to show up for myself  but not for others. How did I end up at the bottom of my own priority list? Something to consider...

I did it! I made pickled magnolia petals and they came out pretty tasty. Think I definitely needed less salt but it was surprisingly super simple. They are just refrigerator pickles but they are supposed to keep for up to year. What a fun use for all the magnolia petals that are EVERYWHERE in my neck of the woods. Unfortunately I did drop the ball on my daily posts yesterday but I'm not going to let it phase me and I'm going pick up right where I left off and just try to do better. That's all for now and I'll see you back here tomorrow. 

Really trying to make a go of this, had intended to start the day with it but here we are at the end of the day now I'll be coming in just under the wire for it to count as today's daily post. I do wish I could call this something other that 'blog' never been a fan of the word. Anywho..today was a Coco's day WITH a neighborhood delivery so this morning was a bit of a rush. Now that tomorrow's deliveries are ready to go I know there's still plenty to be done but this is when I typically struggle trying to figure out which next task needs to be tackled. Thinking that pickling the magnolia I harvested...

Back at it again. This beautiful spring day was perfect for a bit of foraging on my way into town. The native lace cap huecheras are just getting started and there's mustard starting to bloom that is invasive so when I harvest that  I pull it up by the roots. There's tree ivy berries as well and I gathered some magnolia petals for pickling- I'll report back how they turn out. I love almost anything pickled so I'm really excited about them. Hopefully yet another reason to love the magnificent magnolia.
